Gnartifact in Philadelphia, PA to hang & skate w/ Jamal Smith & visit Nocturnal skate shop 9/25-9/27
Gnartifact took a trip to Philly for the weekend to hang out and skate with Jamal Smith. We got into Philly late on Friday night, met Jamal at his house, and pushed straight to Love Park to get some skating in. We hung out there and skated some other spots in the area. Then we saw about 200 motorcycles go the wrong way into traffic down the street. That was ignorant.
On Saturday we woke up early, ate some breakfast, hung out at the house, and then headed over to Nocturnal skate shop. From there we went to Pop's skate park to warm up for the day (E Huntingdon St & Trenton Ave Philadelphia, PA 19125). The park was a very unique layout and set of obstacles. It was really fun to skate for how hectic and crowded it was. A younger kid broke his wrist pretty bad and all the youngsters cleared the park for a good 30 minutes. We got a couple clips on film and then left there to go street skating.
We linked back up at Nocturnal and then skated up South st. filming flat ground lines against traffic. We took a right onto Broad st. and filmed some more clips and bumped into some interesting randoms on the street. From there we skated City Hall where there was a huge crowd of skaters and people watching. We got out of there right before it started to rain. We skated back to Jamal's place and hung out there the rest of the night.
We left Jamal's early in the afternoon on Sunday. Overall it was a real fun weekend. We are definitely planning on getting back down there real soon. Thanks to Jamal and his homies for having me to there house for the weekend.
